The Needle Bug

Owner Leigh Miller has always loved color. As a child, she had a special box where she kept her colors so she could carry them with her wherever she went. Leigh’s box has remained with her to this day, a vibrant reminder of her fondness for colors. The Needle Bug store displays Leigh’s passion in its collection of bright and beautiful threads throughout the shop.

The Needle Bug is a unique store in the world of fine needlework. Leigh maintains an impressive variety of threads, beads, buttons and sequins to embellish your canvas. And if you need a canvas, you will find it here. The Needle Bug also has a wonderful selection of such needlepoint necessities as bags, lamps, stands, magnets and laying tools, as well as an extensive collection of needlepoint books. If you are able to discover something we do not have at the Needle Bug, we will find it for you!

The Needle Bug is more than just a store — it is a full service needlepoint shop! Leigh makes sure that ‘her’ stitchers have every opportunity to stay current and improve their needlepoint skills and techniques by bringing in teachers from across the country. Julia Snyder, Robin King, Carole Lake and many more have visited the Bug to share their knowledge with our local family of stitchers. Leigh also offers classes from fabulous local teachers in areas ranging from beginning classes to advanced classes about stitching plaids to build a stitch notebook.

Leigh also understands the value of fellowship that needlepoint can bring. As a result, The Needle Bug fosters a friendly, relaxing atmosphere that fully engages our customers and guests. The atmosphere of fellowship has served to both heal and celebrate many life events. Leigh has seen her customers through cancer, deaths of spouses and parents, and many other life crises, as well as through weddings, graduations and the births of many grand children.

This unique place is a stitching refuge and is loved by all who frequent it! To experience the best of what The Needle Bug has to offer, join us on Wednesdays from 10:00 until “whenever” for the open stitch. Customers bring their current projects and enjoy fellowship while stitching together in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

The Needle Bug has much to offer any stitcher, no matter her level, interests, or time availability. Please feel free to visit us any time. We love adding friends to our needlepoint family!
